As a child, Tina found immense pleasure in painting and drawing. This recreational activity soon blossomed into a hobby, as her passion and interest in art grew. Since 2013, Tina has continued to hone this creative hobby into a passionate career. Tina’s inspiration is drawn from her surroundings and everyday life. Many of her paintings are a result of her outdoor ventures, such as walking in the woods or on the beautiful beaches of the Oregon Coast.
Tina previously practiced as a Certified Nurse Midwife where she observed women’s strength, courage, compassion, and vulnerability…especially during their pregnancy and birth. She believes women are the gatekeepers of society, who influence change to benefit communities and the world. These women have inspired her to interpret and creatively express the many facets of women throughout their lifespan. With this belief, Tina initiated a Community Canvas Project with the intention of creating connection through community. The first community canvas was successfully launched in 2015 to create a means for nurses to decrease stress and provide an outlet for non-verbal expression relative to their experiences as a caregiver. Thus, a new creative venture was created to “heal the healer.”
Tina has experimented with several mediums, such as acrylics, oils, and watercolor, allowing her to choose a medium that accurately reflects the beckoning “muse”. Her process begins with the intention of capturing color, light, movement, and emotion. Having the freedom to express herself with all mediums has allowed her work to evolve through her own personal experience.
She strives to improve her craft with every new painting she creates and has learned many techniques from artists F. Michael Wood and Shiloh Sophia. Several of her seascapes have been displayed in Florence, Oregon. Tina experienced a successful Valley Series exhibit at Sayre Public Library and donated a portion of the proceeds to Wounded Warriors charity. She is looking forward to a solo exhibit in Owego, New York in December 2021 of her barn series. Tina’s Divine Feminine work was chosen for the entrance at Mint Hill Novant Medical Center’s new Women’s Pavilion in North Carolina. She has sold several commissioned works depicting women, land, and seascapes as well as pet portraits.
